Low ceiling, steel-backed targets, and a coach who takes the axe off you until your stance is right. The first hour is grip, distance, release, and unlearning the instinct to throw as hard as possible.
Once the lane is safe you move to scored rounds and then a knockout bracket. The bracket is the point at which it stops being a lesson. Scores go on the board and the winner stays up there until someone beats them.
No experience needed — most people are landing consistently within the hour. A coach is on the lane the entire session; this is not a range you get left alone in.
Before you arrive
Closed-toe shoes are mandatory and you will be turned away without them. Tie long hair back and leave loose sleeves and bracelets at reception. Arrive fifteen minutes early for the safety briefing — miss it and you cannot throw, and the fee stands.
Things to consider
Minimum age 16, and 16 to 17s need a signed adult waiver. Not suitable during pregnancy, or with a shoulder, elbow or back injury. Anyone who appears intoxicated will be refused the lane without a refund — the one rule we do not bend. The lab is basement level and reached by stairs only.

Frequently asked
I have never thrown an axe. Is that a problem?
It is the norm. The first hour exists precisely for that, and beginners frequently win the bracket because they have no habits to unlearn.
What should I wear?
Closed-toe shoes, without exception — you will be turned away otherwise. Tie long hair back, and leave loose sleeves, bracelets and rings at reception.
Is there an age limit?
Sixteen and over. Sixteen and seventeen year olds need a waiver signed by an adult, who does not have to stay for the session.
Can we drink before or during?
No. Anyone who appears intoxicated is refused the lane and not refunded. It is the one rule we do not negotiate on.
Is the lane accessible?
Honestly, no. The Secret Lab is basement level down a flight of stairs with no lift. Call us before booking if that is an issue and we will talk through what is possible.
